Chandigarh: The Indian authorities on Saturday (May 25) shifted arrested Scotland citizen Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi out of Punjab jail along with other persons arrested by the NIA in several cases investigated by the agency.

The move came few days after Hardeep Singh Shera- one of the arrested persons was shifted to a jail in Delhi.

Defence lawyer Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur has confirmed that Jagtar Singh Johal and others were shifted out of Punjab on May 25.

“Jagtar Singh Johal, Ramandeep Singh Bagga, Dharminder Singh Gugni, Anil Kumar Kala, Amaninder Singh, Manpreet Singh, Ravipal, Pahar Singh, Parvej Farru were confined in Maximum Security Jail in Nabha while Malook Tomar was confined in Central Jail, Patiala. All were shifted out to Delhi yesterday” said Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur.

“Hardeep Singh Shera was already transferred from Central Jail, Bathinda to Rohini Jail in Delhi”, he added.

It is notable that on May 7 the Supreme Court of India (SCI) order the cases of Hardeep Singh Shera, Ramandeep Singh Bagga, Jagtar Singh Jaggi Johal and others to be shifted to a NIA court in Delhi and transfer the arrested persons from Punjab’s jails to Tihar Jail in Delhi.

The SCI had grounded its decision on an “assumption” that ‘several witnessed have been shot dead’ in these cases, however, a fact check does not endorse SCI’s version.

Defence lawyers told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that there was not even a single incident of any witness facing any sort of problem from the side of arrested person. “Instead a witness had committed suicide alleging that he was being forced by the NIA to depose as eye-witness against the arrested persons even after clarifying that he had visited the spot of occurence after the incident had happened and he did not see the incident happening”, said Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, who was defending Hardeep Singh Shera and Ramandeep Singh Bagga in Special NIA court at Mohali before the proceedings were stayed by the SCI.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur further stated that they have filed a review petition against SCI’s order.
