Jalandhar: The dharna, started by Sikh activists at Kapurthala chowk in Jalandhar on Saturday after Angs of Guru Granth Sahib were found from a canal, was lifted on Sunday night after name of the printer was found on one of the Gurbani pothi pages recovered from the Canal and one was rounded up from Amritsar.
Commissioner of police Arpit Shukla said that one Raghbir Singh of Jawahar Singh Kirpal Singh Publishers was rounded up in Amritsar by a police party led by a SP. The name of the publisher was found from one of the pages.

Earlier, the protestors had refused to lift the dharna despite desperate attempts by commissioner Arpit Shukla, Jalandhar deputy commissioner K K Yadav to persuade them. Ludhiana commissioner of police Jatinder Singh Aulakh was also deputed here. They negotiated with protestors throughout the night but the latter refused to lift the dharna. The protestors insisted that they would not lift the dharna till the accused would be arrested.
As per Times of India (TOI), a Dal Khalsa activist Nobeljeet Singh started sifting through the pages carefully to look for some clue and after a couple of hours he found one page on which name of the printer was mentioned. As it was immediately reported to police officials, Shukla addressed the protestors and said that they would apprehend the printer at the earliest as the name of the printer had been detected. The leaders of local and other Sikh organizations, who were on the dharna site since Saturday morning, decided to lift the dharna at around 7pm but even as all local leaders and most of the protestors left, some fellows held the ground and refused to move.
The Dharna was finally lifted at around 10 pm.
In a video released over social media, Sukhjeet Singh Khosa said that the police have seven days to complete the investigation and bring forth the truth of the beadbi incident. “If the police fails to logically complete the investigation with the specified period, the Sikh sangat would resume the protests”, he added.
