Jammu’s Sikh Sangat to Hold 40 Shaheedi Diwans on 40th Anniversary of Teeja Ghallughara

Jammu: Sikh Sangat and management committees of various Gurdwaras in Jammu have unanimously decided to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Ghallughara June 1984 with reverence and remembrance. Termed as the Third Ghallughara (holocaust) in Sikh history, the Indian Army’s assault on Sri Harmandir Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib in Amritsar, and numerous other Sikh Gurdwaras across Punjab and neighboring regions remains etched in the collective memory of the Sikh community.

To honor the Shaheedats of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwala and other Sikh Shaheeds of the Battle of Amritsar, 40 Shaheedi Diwans will be held across the Jammu region.

This significant decision reflects the profound respect and homage that the Sikh Sangat holds for those who laid down their lives during the Ghallughara 1984.

The 40th anniversary of the Indian Army’s attack on Sikh Gurdwaras holds immense historical significance, prompting Sikh communities worldwide to join in commemorating the memory of the Shaheeds.

Through these events, the Sikh Sangat aims to uphold the values of courage, resilience, and unity, while also ensuring that the sacrifices made during the 1984 Ghallughara are never forgotten.
