Punjab police apprehends Sikh youth from Rishikesh (Uttarakhand)

Rishikesh/ Chandigarh: A Sikh youth was reportedly apprehended by the Punjab police belonging to Khanna on Wednesday (June 15). Jagjit Singh, a mechanic was taken into custody from his shop in Rishikesh by a police party of Khanna police at around half past 12 in noon. He was taken to Kotwali police station in Rishikesh, Jagjit Singh’s mother mata Sukhwinder Kaur told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone.

Mata Sukhwinder Kaur said that she went to Kotwali police station to inquire about his son’s suspected arrest and the police party told her that Jagjit Singh is taken into custody on the basis of some Facebook posts. She said that Jagjit Singh had went to his uncle’s place where he posed with a licensed rifle of his uncle and posted the photo on Facebook.

She said that the police told her that there was another photo of Jagjit Singh with a flag wearing “Khalistan” written on it.

She said that the police took Jagjit Singh to Khanna. He feared that her son may be ‘falsely implicated’ by the Punjab police.
