Ludhiana Arrests: Police Remand of 4 Extended for 5 More Days; Two sent to Judicial Custody

Seven persons were arrested by the Punjab police on Saturday (Sept. 30)

Ludhiana: The Ludhiana police today presented 6 persons, who were arrested on September 29 from Ludhiana, before the court of Judicial Magistrate (First Class) Devnoor Singh in Ludhiana. The police sought extension of their police remand and after hearing the arguments of police and the defence the court denied further remand of two persons while 4 were sent on police remand for 2 more days.

Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur who appeared for the arrested persons told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) that Onkar Singh and Amritpal Singh were sent to judicial custody while Kuldeep Singh, Jasbir Singh, Amanpreet Singh and Jugraj Singh were send on police remand for five more days. The police has demanded 10 days extension in their police remand.

Advocate Manjhpur said that arrested persons are booked by Division No. 7 police under FIR No. 171 dated: 29 Sept, 2017 u/sections 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and section 25 of Arms Act.

It is notable that one of 7 arrested persons(Manpreet Singh) was minor and he was earlier sent to judicial custody in a juvenile custody home.
