Mann ordered to leave Srinagar, Dal Khalsa slams JK Government

Amritsar (July 24, 2011): Some media reports have revealed that Dal Khalsa, an organization primarily based in Punjab, today lashed out at the Jammu and Kashmir administration saying its order asking SAD (Amritsar) head Simran Jeet Singh Mann to leave Srinagar was absurd.

The J&K Police is today reported to have put restrictions on the movement of Shiromani Akali Dal (Mann) President Simranjeet Singh Mann along with other 15 Sikh leaders as they were planning to visit a Sikh village in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.

In a letter to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, party’s secretary for political affairs Kanwar Pal Singh said the District Magistrate’s order asking Simran Jeet Singh Mann to leave Srinagar was “autocratic in nature”.

“Portraying Mann as a threat to law and order in the state is totally absurd,” the letter said adding he was asked to leave on “filmsy” grounds.

The letter denounced detention of several Kashmiri leaders by the state government and demanded immediate release of all political prisoners.
