Maur Mandi Blast: As Probe Hints Dera Hand, Chief Investigating Officer Transferred

Chandigarh: The chief investigating officer of the Maur Mandi bomb blast case that preceded the 2017 Punjab assembly election has been suddenly transferred from this case. It is believed that this  action has been initiated as the ongoing probe revealed that the blast had links with Dera Sauda Sira (DSS).

The blasts occurred during campaigning for assembly polls with Congress candidate Harminder Jassi, a relative of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, having a narrow escape.(HT File)

Inspector Dalbir Singh was appointed as chief investigating officer of this case by Punjab Police chief Suresh Arora himself. Reports say that due to swift investigation the investigators were about reach at the gates of DSS. This is because the three accused so far named by the police in this case had direct links and were the members of DSS. But then due to some mysterious reasons the premature investigation took a break and the police probe was held back. According to sources, there may be a major political reason for this U-Turning.

Station House Officers (SHO) of Dyalpur police station and chief investigating officer in this case Dalbir Singh has been transferred to Fatehgarh Sahib by Punjab Police chief Suresh Arora. He will now be joining as head of Sirhind CIA staff, media reports said.

Even after his transfer to Fatehgarh Sahib Dalbir Singh is still incharge and chief investigating officer in the Maur Mandi bomb blast case. While quoting the police sources the media reports said that “Dalbir Singh has been assigned additional task because of which he was as to relocate.” It also being rumored that the main accused of this case Gurtej Kalam may surrender anytime.
