Ludhiana, Punjab (April 06, 2014): Weeks after splitting over the candidate to support in the Lok Sabha election from Ludhaina seat, Sikh Katle Aam Peerat Welfare Society (Punjab) – a body seeking justice for the victims of November 1984 Sikh massacre, has accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) nominee and senior lawyer Advocate H. S. Phoolka of withdrawing case against Congress leaders Sajjan Kumar and Jagdish Tytler.
It is notable that the Sikh Katle Aam Peerat Welfare Society (Punjab) faction making this allegation backs Badal Dal-BJP candidate Manpreet Singh Ayali. Sajjan and Tytler are main accused in the Sikh carnage that happened 30 years ago in Delhi.
Sikh Katle Aam Peerat Welfare Society president Surjit Singh stated on Friday (April 04) in a meeting convened in Ludhiana that an eyewitness from the US, Jasbir Singh, had wanted to depose in the Jagdish Tytler hearing on April 3 but Advocate H S Phoolka’s withdrawing had rendered him helpless.
On the other hand Advocate H S Phoolka has dismissed the allegations as “propaganda” to sabotage his election campaign.
“I have remained and always will remain committed to the cause of fighting for justice for the 1984-riot victims. No case against Sajjan or any other accused has been withdrawn. Rather, the cases against Sajjan have been instituted and the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) has filed charge sheets,” he added.
He held Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Badal responsible for the rumours.
It is notable that the Sultanpuri-carnage case against Sajjan Kumar is in the trial court and the coming hearings are on April 14 and 17.
“The defence counsel is cross-examining prosecution witness number one, after which the other witnesses will be examined,” said Phoolka.
In the Delhi Cantonment case, the appeal being argued by H S Phoolka against the order of the trial court is pending in the respective high court and the next hearing is on May 28.
