Peaceful struggle against DSS to last till implementation of edicts of Akal Takht: Sikh Bodies

Talwandi Sabo/ Bathinda (March 21, 2010): Various Sikh bodies today resolved to continue with their peaceful struggle to secure implementation of edicts of Akal Takht against Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS). Today 53rd Sikh Jatha led by Baba Hardeep Singh Mehraj; comprising more than hundred volunteers marched towards dera Salabatpura, Punjab headquarters of DSS, to demand its closure. It is notable that this peaceful agitation is going on since last one year and a jatha of eleven Sikhs leave march towards dera salabatpura from Takht Damdama Sahib every Sunday.

Today’s gathering was addressed by Baba Baljeet Singh Daduwal, Jathedar Charat Singh Nihang, Bhai Harpal Singh Cheema of SAD (Panch Pardhani) and Paramjeet Singh Gazi of Sikh Students Federation. During their address these leaders blamed Union and State Government for patronizing DSS head Gurmeet Ram Raheem.

“We are fighting a peaceful struggle in wake of decision Sikh Panth. But the State Government, in order to suppress our struggle, has arrested many Sikh leaders including Bhai Daljeet Singh Bittu. We accept this challenge and shall continue with our struggle.” said HS Cheema, while talking to media.
