Chandigarh: After failing to secure extradition of UK based Sikh activist Paramjit Singh Pamma from Portugal, the Punjab police is reportedly gearing up for seeking his extradition from the British authorities. As per a news reportedly by a Punjabi vernacular, Punjab police is planning to move a court case to secure custody of Paramjit Singh Pamma.
Punjab police has sought legal opinion of district attorney and the police is hopeful that if everything goes on “right track”, it would contact security agencies of the UK in this regard.
It may be recalled that the Punjab police had to face massive embarrassment few months back when it’s officers, who had gone to Portugal to seek Pamma’s extradition, had to run back form Portugal after a they were identified as “human rights abusers” in a complaint moved by Sikhs For Justice and attorneys of Paramjit Singh Pamma.
Pamma holds asylum in Britain where as Punjab police maintains that he was wanted in some cases registered against him in Punjab.
