Chandigarh/ Punjab (March 07, 2014): It is learnt that India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has banned Punjabi movie ’47 to 84 – Ek Peed’. The movie is said to be based on sufferings of people who witnessed partition of 1947 and mass massacre of 1984.
As per information the CBFC has refused clearance certificate to this movie while taking a plea that the movie could affect communal harmony.
Film Producer Babli Singh disclosed this information during a function in which music of this movie was released.
He said that he would approach the revision committee the decision of CBFC. He said that CBFC has wrongfully denied the certificate to this movie.
Rajiv Sharma, director of 47 TO 84, said that this was a simple movie based on events related to 1984 massacre, which ends with a hope. He said there was nothing in the movie that could adversely affect the communal harmony.
It is notable that earlier on January 29 the CBFC had banned Raj Kakra’s “Kaum De Heere”. Kaum De Heere is based on events related to assassination of Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. Lyricist turned actor Raj Kakra has played lead role in Kaum De Heere.
As per information the producers of Kaum De Heere have also approached the revision committee against decision of CBFC.
