Chandigarh/ Punjab (August 30, 2014): Banned Punjabi Movie Kaum De Heere was recently uploaded to Video sharing website YouTube by someone but the producers of the movie was quick enough to get it removed from the website.
Kaum De Heere, which was initially banned in India in January this year, was released outside India on 14 March 2014. The movie was later cleared by India’s Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in July. But it was again banned in India by CBFC on August 21, after it was jointly reviewed by Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the CBFC. The movie was set to be released on August 22.
Satish Katiyal, producer of the Kaum De Heere movie, said that the movie was put on YouTube by some without their consent or information.
“We have the copyrights of the movie and we contacted YouTube to get its’ unauthorized and pirated version removed from YouTube”, Satish Katyal reportedly said.
The movie is said to be based on sacrifice of lives made by Sikh martyrs Shaheed Beant Singh, Satwant Singh and Kehar Singh. Trio have been declared national Sikh martyrs by Akal Takht Sahib.
Unauthorized upload of the Movie Kaum De Heere surely amounts to violation of anti-piracy and cyber laws, it is yet to be seen if the producers of the movie would launch a formal complaint with the police under cyber laws.
