Jalandhar (September 19, 2011): Sikh organization Dal Khalsa took a swipe at the Gujarat chief minister for changing his colours and stripes to portray himself as a “changed personality” and warned the people against trusting him.
Urging the people not to trust Narendra Modi who is observing fast since last 2 days, the president of the Dal Khalsa, Harcharanjit Singh Dhami, said the Sadbhavana (goodwill) Mission started by him was just a cloak to hoodwink the electorate at large. He also condemned the BJP for its Hindutva supremacist ideology.
What happened all over Gujarat in 2002 was a ‘pogrom’ carried out by Hindutva zealots having full state patronage. The innocent blood was spilled on the streets of Gujarat and Modi had a role in it”, he alleged.
All talks of unity, harmony and brotherhood by Modi looks sham and ridiculous as justice still eludes the aggrieved families and perpetrators were still roaming scot free, he remarked. “Such words from the mouth of the Narendar Modi are like the devil reciting the bible”.
If Modi, as he claimed has any genuine realization of the immense pain the people have undergone 10 years back, then he should admit his guilt and seek pardon for his sins from the aggrieved families, said Dhami.
At the same time, Dal Khalsa took a dig at Congress also. “We have seen the real draconian face of the Congress too in Delhi in 1984. No one has been punished for Sikh massacre after 27 years”.
Perturbed over the presence of SAD (Badal) supremo at the venue of Modi’s fast, Dal Khalsa secretary, Kanwar Pal Singh said being a Sikh face and leader of the Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal should have desisted from aligning with a person who is considered to be “enemy of the Muslim World”.
The present leadership of the Shiromani Akali Dal had stuck an alliance with the BJP at the cost of Sikh interests, he rued.
