Sadda Haq Movie would clear misconceptions regarding the 1980-90s movement: Co-producer Dinesh Sood

Melbourne, Australia (March 19, 2013): A Melbourne based Punjabi radio has recently released a podcast of an interview with Dinesh Sood, co-producer of Sadda Haq Punjabi Movie.

This interview throws light on many off-screen matters related to the production of the much discussed Punjabi movie, that is scheduled for worldwide release on April 05, 2013.

The movie is based on true events of 1980-90s in Punjab.

It is learnt that Dinesh Sood was in Australia to promote the movie and released it’s music on March 17, 2013 at Melbourne.

While sharing the experience of the promotion campaign, Dinesh Sood said that there was so much craze about the movie in countries he visited that he would couldn’t explain it. He said that the response was beyond their expectations.

During his interview with Jaspreet Singh, host and presenter of Qaumi Awaaz Punjabi Radio, Dinesh Sood firmly addressed to some bold questions.

In this interview the host Jaspreet Singh said that ‘whenever anyone dares to talk about the period of 1980s-90s movement, it is often argued that such talks could hurt the feelings of a particular community; and further that this could increase tensions and create a divide among the communities’.

Interview with Dinesh Sood, Co-producer of Sadda Haq Punjabi Movie

The host asked Dinesh Sood that did they face these questions in relation to the production of Sadda Haq?

“There were many such things to my mind before we started the movie” Sood replied.

He said that: ‘This movie was a dream project of Kuljinder Sidhu; but being a Hindu there were many questions to my mind that – why such a movie should be produced’.

‘My close friends forbade me saying that – we all had seen that during that period many incidents were there’ he added.

He told that he held long discussions with Kuljinder Sidhu in this regard for over two years.

‘All my questions were adequately answered by Kuljinder; that – what was the truht of those incidents; and – what were the demands behind the movement and how the movement was defamed and what was the role of the government’ Dinesh Sood added.

He further said: ‘I used to listen his arguments carefully and discussed it with my people but they did not believe’.

‘Then I involved myself in research; started reading books and I realized that he (Kuljinder) was right; and there were misconceptions in minds of our people’.

‘Then I realzed that this movie must be made so that the people could know the reality’.

He opined that the misconceptions in the mind of a community may get cleared after watching this movie.
