Sikh Sangat To Gather in Anandpur Sahib on October 10 to Prevent Alterations to Historic Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib

Sri Anandpur Sahib: The Sikh community has raised concerns over proposed alterations to the historic Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Patshahi 9vi, in Sri Anandpur Sahib. The Gurdwara, believed to be one of the few that has maintained its original structure and appearance, is facing modifications under a beautification project. The initiative, led by a UK-based organization Nishkam Sewa Society in collaboration with Kar Sewa Anandgarh Sahib and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), aims to cover the Gurdwara’s walls with marble, which many feel will compromise the site’s historical integrity.

The Sikh sangat (community) is strongly opposing the move, insisting that the Gurdwara’s traditional architecture should be preserved. They argue that the proposed changes threaten the authenticity of this centuries-old religious landmark, which holds immense significance for Sikhs worldwide.

In response, the Sikh community has called for a large gathering tomorrow (October 10) at Sri Anandpur Sahib to discuss their next steps in halting the alterations. Community leaders are expected to decide on a joint course of action to protect the Gurdwara’s historic outlook.

The outcome of the meeting will shape the future of the restoration efforts and the preservation of Sikh heritage at this sacred site.
