Amritsar: A Sikh youth returning form England was withheld by Indian immigration authorities at Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi earlier today. Taljit Singh, who hails from Jammu, was staying in England for last 9 years was not allowed to leave the airport by Indian immigration authorities after his arrival early morning today and he was allegedly handed over to the Punjab police.
Taljit Singh’s brother Tarlok Singh, who was present outside the security gates of the IGI Airport told Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) over phone that he was not allowed to enter the premises while authorities did not allow his brother to come out.
“Later I witnessed the arrival for Punjab police vehicles and my brother was carried away by the police”, he added.
He claimed that neither the police, nor the immigration authorities extended him any information about the detention or arrest of his brother.
“I do not know where they have taken Taljit Singh. No body extended me any information. My brother was skipped away by the police in front of my eyes”, he added.
Tarlok Singh said that he was charged by Punjab police in some cases under UA(P)A and he was released on bail few months back.
“The police had inquired about my brother during my investigation. They had claimed that my bother was linked to Paramjeet Singh Pamma. I was not aware of anything and I told the police to directly talk to my brother who was staying in London. The police made a contact with my brother over phone who had ensured them that he was not connected to Paramjeet Singh Pamma or anyone else and was just earning his livelihood there”, Tarlok Singh told SSN over phone.
He feared that his brother may be tortured by police in illegal custody and he may be framed in some case.
Tarlok Singh, who was on his way back to Punjab from Delhi, said that his primary concern at this moment was to find the whereabouts of Taljit Singh.
