BC, Canada | (Press Release): Sidak is a distinctive leadership development program for young adults (17-40) seeking to increase their commitment towards the Sikh faith. A two-week intensive immersion in Sikh culture, language, values and community through understanding bani (scripture), tvarikh (history), and rahit (discipline).
In addition to the core tracks “Sikhi 101” and “Sikhi 201”, this year we are excited to introduce a brand new track “Gurbani 101” – a survey course that familiarizes students with the structure, languages, themes, terms and principles of the Guru Granth Sahib. The course provides tools and exposure to nomenclature for developing an approach to understanding Guru Granth Sahib.
To make Sidak accessible to couples with young kids, there is a Junior Sidak which allows entire families to attend. Daljeet Singh and his wife Gurpreet Kaur, physicians from California, came with their two daughters. “[Junior Sidak] allowed both of us to go to class, when, originally, we thought we’d have to be switching,” said Daljeet Singh. “I want to say to anyone who thinks they shouldn’t come here because they have young kids—let me say that it is doable.”
Come and experience the magnificence of Canada’s West Coast with mountains, stillness, woods and lakes, ideal environment for introspection, reflection and learning. Check out the site at www.khalsacentre.ca
