Sikhs to observe minority day as ‘black day’ in J&K: APSCC

Srinagar, Kashmir (December 22, 2013 – reported by Mir Iqbal): All Party Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) today said the minority community will observe minority day as the “Black day” in the Jammu and Kashmir, as the government has failed to extend the privileges under India’s Commission of Minority Act in the state.

In a statement Jagmohan Singh Raina, Chairman APSCC, said the coalition in the state headed by Omar Abdullah as the Chief Minister didn’t bother to look after the minorities in the state.

“APSCC has several meetings with the minority act in the state under our constitutional ethos, it is the responsibility and the duty of the government to look after the minority but they have failed to do so,” Raina said.

Raina added with elections in near future, the minorities would likely be influenced by this apathetic treatment and might express their anger through their voting behaviour.
