Chandigarh: In response to Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement to filed Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann against Sukhbir Badal from Jalalabad constituency for Punjab polls 2017, the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today asked Kejriwal not to hide behind proxies and contest against him from Jalalabad.
In a statement issued from Chandigarh, the ruling Badal Dal president claimed that Arvind Kejriwal wanted to become CM from Punjab but was running away from contesting the elections.
“You can easily test your popularity by contesting against me from Jalalabad. Why don’t you make a statement regarding this during your ongoing visit to Punjab. Let the people also know your mettle. Are you only good at fighting others through proxies”, the statement quotes Sukhbir Badal as saying.

The statement further quotes Sukhbir Badal: “[e]veryone including Bhagwant Mann knows that he is being put into the election fray to finish him politically. Arvind Kejriwal has through a series of steps including his insistence not to give tickets to any of Mann’s loyalists finished him in the party. Now he wants to take Mann out of contention electorally also and that is why he is making him shift from Sangrur district to Ferozepur where people don’t even know him. But Mann had this coming to him. He sold his soul to the devil by teaming up with Kejriwal. Now he must live with the consequences. I wish him luck from Jalalabad”.
