In a hard hitting statement, party’s spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh said the seat-sharing deal between Sant Samaj and SAD (Badal) was just an eyewash meant to hoodwink the electorate.
We reaffirm that the alliance between Badal led Akali Dal and Sant Samaj was unprincipled and unholy. Moreover, “it is based on white lies”. Both the sides have presented concocted picture. Contrary to the claims of 30 seats, Sant Samaj has got less than double figure (10) seats directly and rest of the names shown in their account/quota are staunch members of the Akali Dal led by Badals.
To stem rebellion in his rank and file, Badal has adjusted several of his loyal under the guise of Sant Samaj. The patch up could be best described as skin-saving formula for Badals and face saving for Sant Samaj.
Listing the names of the candidates who are directly nominee’s of the Sant Samaj, he said it includes Baba Buta Singh, Baba Sukhchain Singh, Kaka Gurpreet Singh, J P Singh from Mohali, Bibi Ranjit Kaur, Amarjeet Singh Chawla, Gurcharan Singh Grewal and Satwinder Singh Tohra.
On the other hand, Sant Samaj had to satisfy on much less number of seats because they had burnt their ends with Panthic Morcha on the issue of amendments of Nanakshahi calendar. Nowhere to go Sant Samaj has settled for much lesser number.
Dal Khalsa leader asked Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa chairman of the Sant Samaj to explain his position before the Sikh Sangat. Going against the traditions and principles of Damdami Taksal, he has joined the Badal’s Bandwagon, allege he and added that let Baba Dhumma to tell the electorate why he has become party to a lie?
Notably, Damdami Taksal is contesting elections after the gap of 32 years. Earlier under the command of Baba Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale in alliance with Sikh Students Federation and Dal Khalsa, the religious seminary fielded its candidates in 1979 against the official candidates of Akali Dal Badal. However, it has struck compromise with Badal led Akali Dal for the first time.
