Panchkula/Chandigarh: A CBI special court is set to announce verdict in a murder case against Dera Sauda Sirsa (DSS))’s convicted chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim.
In wake of the expected court verdict the administration has made tight security arrangements at Panchkula as well as the state order of Punjab and Haryana. Security personnel in large numbers are deployed in Panchkula to prevent any untoward incident.
It is notable that Dera Sauda Sirsa followers had resorted to large scale violence in Pannchkula on 25 August, 2017 when DSS chief was convicted by a CBI court in a rape case. As per reports 36 people had died in this violence, including mainly dera followers.
The present case pertains to murder of a Sirsa based scribe and former Dera follower Ram Chander Chhatrapati who was killed at the behest of Gurmeet Ram Rahim in 2002 after he had published details of Gurmeet Ram Rahim’s secret activities involving forced sex with Sadhvis at DSS.
The CBI judge Jagdeep Singh is set to announce verdict in this case today. The court proceedings were adjourned for lunch at the time of writing this news.
