Dal Khalsa Nails PM Modi’s Bathinda Speech: Says Rhetoric on Water Issue a mere Hogwash

Hoshiarpur- Dubbing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rhetoric on river waters issue as dubious and a mere hogwash, the Dal Khalsa said it was yet another step to side track the attention of the people from the utter failure of the demonetisation process and bring up the bogey of a war.

Referring to the loud claims of Modi to stop the river waters flowing to Pakistan, the party’s ex-president H S Dhami said the PM knows fully well that New Delhi can’t voluntarily re-allocate the waters arranged under Indus river water treaty.
He alleged that Modi deliberately used the soil of Punjab to issue veiled threat to Pakistan. It looks a well-thought design to raise the possibility of making this region the next theatre of war between nuclear-armed hostile nations, he opined.
Terming PM’s statement at Bhatinda that Punjab farmers will get the waters by cutting the water supply to Pakistan a gimmick, he said Modi remained silent on what he can do (to correct the historical wrongdoings of his predecessors) but spoke only what he can’t do.
Modi played to the gallery. He gave no assurance to solve the problem by recognising and respecting riparian rights of Punjab on its waters, said Dhami.
Strongly ridiculing the incapable Akali leadership for surrendering their conscience before Hindutva forces, he said Punjab and Panth stands to loose only because these leaders look towards New Delhi for power, pelf and privileges.
Dal Khalsa believes that the  Prime Minister had muddled the Punjab’s river waters issue much like other parties and leaders of
yore.
He has forsaken his moral and political responsibility towards the people of Punjab.
