Farmer Who Consumed Poison in front of Punjab Finance Minister’s Residence Succumbs

Patiala/ Sangrur: Darshan Singh, 50, who had consumed poison in front of Punjab finance minister Parminder Dhindsa’s residence on Monday (Dec. 19) died today at Rajindera Hospital, Patiala.

Darshan Singh was reportedly under debt of thirty lakhs and Banks and money lenders, from whom he had taken the debt, were harassing him. Darshan Singh was a resident of Saddopur village near Malerkotla.

On Monday, Darshan Singh has consumed poison in front of Parminder Dhindsa’s residence during a protest staged by Farmers and Labourers’ organizations as a part of state wide ‘gherao’ of Punjab ministers’ residences.
