Holocaust Day (ghallughara dihara) observed in various Jails in Punjab

Ludhaina (June 10, 2010): Whereas the Punjab Government had prevented Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Panch Pardhani) from holding Holocaust Memorial March to observe Holocaust Day from 1 to 6 June; there are certain reports that party workers and leaders confined in various Jails of Punjab observed the Holocaust Day on 6 June.

Patiala Rural President of SAD (Panch Pardhani), Gurmeet Singh Goga and Sandeep Singh Canadian (General Secretary, Youth Dal) who were arrested by the police as per directions of Punjab Government on 29th May, informed after his release from Patiala Jail that Sikhs confined in this jail observed 26th anniversary of attack on Darbar Sahib (in June 1984).

Similar reports are received from Ludhiana Jail where Advocate Jaspal Singh Manjhpur, Media committee member of SAD (Panch Pardhani) is lodged since last about eight months. It is notable that JS Manjhpur was arrested by Punjab police on 27th August, 2009 from Ludhiana and is charged with Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Government claims that they were working to further the ideology of Sovereign Sikh State, called Khalistan. In a function held at Gurudwara Sahib situated in Ludhiana Jail, JS Manjhpur is said to have addressed the gathering of jail inmates. Palwinder Singh Shutrana, Baba Prabhdial Singh (Damdami Taksal), Hardeep Singh and Inderjeet Singh were also present on the occasion.
