Dera Baba Nanak/Gurdaspur: The Government of India (GoI) has suspended Gurdwara Darbar Sahib, Kartarpur Sahib yatra through Kartarpur Sahib corridor. As per media reports, the GoI has indefinitely suspended the yatra as a measure to prevent and contain breakout of Coronavirus.
Earlier the GoI had suspended crossing of people and things through Attari-Wagah Joint Check Post connecting Eastren and Western parts of the Punjab.
Sikh Body Objects to Suspension of Kartarpur Sahib Corridor:
The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) has objected to GoI’s decision to suspend Gurdwara Kartarpur Sahib yatra through Kartarpur Sahib corridor.
SGPC chief Gobind Singh Longowal said that the GoI should have intensified preventive and precautionary measures, such as deployment of medical teams instead of suspending the yatra.
