Chandigarh: After the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee chief Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar earlier this month wrote a letter to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in which he was asked by the former to ensure the safety of Sikhlighar Sikhs, SGPC member Karnail Singh Panjoli here on Monday asked for an independent investigation into ‘discriminatory’ behavior and misdeeds towards Sikhlighar Sikhs.
As reported by the media in his request the SGPC member has asked for a high-level delegation that should be sent to Madhaya Pradesh to enquire into the atrocities committed on the Sikhs.
In a letter written to SGPC chief Kirpal Singh Badungar, Karnail Singh Panjoli reportedly stated that the state police were implicating Siklighar Sikhs in false cases, besides raiding their houses to terrorise them.
The nomadic community, which also made guns from iron for generations, they are often times harassed by the security agencies. They face neglect and lead a poverty-ridden life. The SGPC has planned several projects to help Sikligar Sikhs.
