Brampton: As per a written release NDP Leader Andrea Horwath and Canadian Member of Provincial Parliament and deputy leader Jagmeet Singh addressed the gathering of hundreds of Sikhs at Gurudwara Sahib of the city of Brampton on the occasion of Parkash Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Ji.
Whilst addressing the Sikh sangat Andrea Horwath said “Guru Nanak Ji not only taught us the wordily teachings but also blessed the Sikhs with principal of Equality and sharing from one’s honest earning.” She further said that the very foundation of her party is based upon such principals as this has lead to the increased contribution of the Sikh community towards the party, which ultimately helped in building a strong bond with the community.
The first turbaned Sikh to be Deputy leader of major political party and a MPP from Ontario Jagmeet Singh also accompanied Andrea Horwarth on her visit.
Jagmeet Singh stated that “N.D.P is the only party in the Ontario Assembly which is vociferously vouching to get the events of 1984 recognised as an act of Sikh Genocide, as it will help in assuaging the psyche of the victims and survivors of that fateful events and will enable us to prevent such horrifying events to ever occur in the future again.” He further said that “our principals of social justice and equality will help us in promoting a liberal and constructive society.”
In Ontario it was the N.D.P which has always assisted the Sikh community in every possible way, He said “it was N.D.P which firmly stood by his side when the month of April was declared as the Sikh heritage month so that the people of Ontario could be made aware of Sikh values of selfless service,Equality. He reiterated that N.D.P will always maintain a strong bond with the Sikh community and will legally assist the Sikhs in every possible manner.
