Chandigarh/ Amb Sahib (December 24, 2013): Even though the government circles were claiming to have completed the process of parole for Gurmeet Singh, Shamsher Singh and Lakhwinder Singh two days back; trio still remains confined in Chandigarh Model Jail, Burrail.
The jail authorities informed the organizers of the Bandi Singhs Rihai Morcha that these three Sikh political prisoners could not be released as the process of grant of parole (temporary release) is not completed yet.
It is notable that a Haryana based Sikh Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa is on indefinite hunger strike since November 14, 2013 seeking release of Bhai Gurmeet Singh, Shamsher Singh and Lakhwinder Singh besides 3 other Sikh political prisoners.
Sikh sangat today marched towards Burrail Jail from Gurdwara Amb Sahib (Mohali) and staged a brief protest outside the jail. Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khasla who is on 41st day of his continues hunger strike was brought to Burrail jail in a car. He performed Ardas (prayers) outside the jail for the release of concerned Sikh prisoners.

Later the members of the committee conducting the affairs of Bandi Singhs Rihai Morcha and Bhai Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa held meeting with Chandigarh’s IGP (Jails) B. S. Dhol. Morcha leaders lodged their protest with IPG that the parole of three Sikhs was not being processed by the Chandigarh administration. The IGP reportedly assured the Sikh delegation that the process for the release of Sings shall be completed soon.
Meanwhile, sources have revealed that the process of parole for Gurmeet Singh is nearing completion and the sureties have been asked to submit bail bonds with the Deputy Commissioner of Patiala.
