London, Punjab (June 06, 2013): Tens of thousands of Sikhs will gather in London on Sunday 9 June to mark the 29th anniversary of the Indian army attack on the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar in June 1984.
Amritsar, Punjab (June 5, 2013): "Twenty-nine years ago, with the attack on Darbar Sahib, the then government of India laid the foundation stone for independent state. The sentiments of sovereignty that was strengthened by army attack on Darbar Sahib have not been buried with the passage of time and change in political scenario. There may not be any public manifestation of such sentiments but all Sikhs desire to be self-ruler".
New Delhi, India (June 05, 2013): As per media reports Sushil Kumar Shinde, Home Minister of India, said on June 05, 2013 that Pakistan's ISI is trying to revive militancy in Punjab. While addressing the Chief Ministers' conference on internal security in Delhi, Shinde reportedly said: “Punjab militancy threat growing again. Sikh youths being trained by ISI (Inter Services Intelligence) facilities in Pakistan. Sikh youths in US, Europe are also being motivated in this regard”.
London, United Kingdom (June 05, 2013): As Sikhs all over the world gather in remembrance of the Darbar Sahib invasion of 1984, the National Sikh Youth Federation (NSYF) will be delivering a Liv-Webinar which will offer an overview of why and how the events of 1984 transpired in the way that they did.
In the days after Indira Gandhi's assassination, he was among the local Congress Party leaders competing with one another to see which wards would shed more Sikh blood. In exhorting his party cadres and goons to kill more Sikhs, he is reported to have told them they shamed him in the eyes of the top Congress leaders because there were fewer killings in his wards.

The tragic events that began in June of 1984 and the subsequent repercussions have left an indelible mark on the Sikh community and the whole Indian community, in Canada and abroad.

It was fiery June of 1984. There was a large crowd of people in the Holy Shrine gathered to observe the martyrdom day of their Guru Arjun Dev, an event of special significance in the development of Sikh faith. Sikhs from all over the world had travel long distances to become part of this Holy ritual. Many of whom wouldn’t have even thought in their wildest dreams that this could be their last journey.

Amritsar, Punjab (June 02, 2013): It is learnt that Hindu organization Shiv Sena (Rashtarvadi) took out a march on May 31, 2013 in Amritsar to show their protest against the June 1984 memorial for Sikh martyrs. In June 1984 Indian army had attacked Sri Darbar Sahib and other Sikh Gurdwaras in Punjab and adjoining states.
In June 1984, when the Indian army attacked Sri Darbar Sahib (Amritsar) and other Sikh Gurdwara Sahibs, the attack was code-named as "Operation Blue Star". A Pakistani poet Afzal Ahsan Randhawa wrote a poem in June 1984 and described the attack attack as "Navan Ghalughara" (new holocaust).

Khadur Sahib, is going to send its MA students, under a special project, to Madhya Pradesh to propagate Sikhism as well as collect the information regarding livings and development of the Sikh community residing there".
