Hoshiarpur BSP leader in fix for announcing bounty over Ramdev’s head

Hoshiarpur, Punjab (May 08, 2014): Agitated over Yoga trainer Baba Ramdev’s derogatory remark against the Dalits, a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader went on to announce Rupees 1 Crore bounty over Ramdev’s head.
According to recent media reports the civil administration of Hoshiarpur has taken notice of the alleged announcement. The district administration has initiated an inquiry into Bhagwan Singh Chohan’s announcement offering 1-crore to someone beheading Ramdev. Bhagwant Singh Chohan was also Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seat.

On the directions of Tanu Kashyap, Deputy Commissioner of Hoshiarpur, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sushil Kumar has marked the inquiry to SP (detective) Jagmohan Singh.
According to Hindustan Times (HT): [t]he SSP first denied having received any complaint, but when informed that complainants had approached the media, he admitted that some Scheduled Caste (SC) activists had filed a complaint. “A complaint in this regard was received at Model Town police station on Monday. I have asked the SP (D) to verify the facts,” he said.
According to a news published at YesPunjab.Com, Bhagwan Singh Chohan, while addressing a gathering in Mehtiana on Sunday (May 04), had allegedly offered the bounty. He had said that Ramdev had insulted women by stating that Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi went to Dalit houses for honeymoon and picnics.
As per information Bhagwan Singh Chohan said on April 06 that he had made the statement on the spur of the moment.
“It was an impulsive statement. I was shocked by what Ramdev had said. I repeat that he has insulted 65 crore women of this country, but if the media asks me to repeat the statement (I made on Sunday), I can’t do that. I would rather say that I never said anything about any reward”, he reportedly added.
