Sangrur, Punjab (August 21, 2014): The impact of shoe throwing incident of August 15 was clearly visible during Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s stage at Longowal on August 20, but in different terms. On August 15 during a state level function at Isru near Khanna an unemployed youth named Vikram Kumar from Dhanaula had hurled shoe towards Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal allegedly as a token of protest against corruption and Badal government’s failure to provide employment to the educated youth in Punjab.
The incident’s impact was visible, not in terms of any strong policy or action against corruption or unemployment but in terms of forcing the frontal attendees of any gathering at CM Badal’s stage to remove their shoes.
According to information people, including media persons, attending Parkash Singh Badal’s stage at death anniversary of former Shiromani Akali Dal President Sant Harchand Singh Longowal were asked to remove their shoes as a precautionary measure.
