Chandigarh: A day after Haryana CM ML Khattar declared to approach supreme court of India for speedy hearing of a matter related to construction of controversial SYL canal project, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday (Feb. 04) said that Punjab has no spare water to share with other states.
“Punjab does not have even a single drop of excess water for any other state,” Badal told reporters in Mohali near on Wednesday.
Badal said the issue of river water sharing must be resolved through globally accepted Riparian principle and no other formula was acceptable to Punjab.
In his traditional tone, Badal Dal patron criticized previous Congress party governments at the Center for “step-motherly treatment” to Punjab by denying its legitimate share of river water. But he did not pass any direct comment about BJP’s stand on controversial “rivers linking project” or on Saffron party’s support for the construction of SYL Canal.
