UP govt. announces extra-compensation for November 1984 Sikh pogrom victims

Uttar Pradesh: The Uttar Pradesh government has announced an additional Rs.5 lakh each for the 1984 anti-Sikh pogrom victims. The additional rehabilitation package is as per the recommendations of the Nanavati Commission, official sources said.

While November 1984 Sikh genocide victims had earlier been given Rs.3.50 lakh as monetary help, and now the additional Rs.5 lakh would be given to the members of victims’ families. The move follows instructions from India’s Home Ministry in this connection, UP govt. officials reportedly said.
