UK Sikh body want Akal Takht Jathedar to take strong notice of Nanak Shah Fakir

London: A UK based Sikh group, United Khalsa Dal, has urged Akal Takht Sahib Jatehdar Giani Gurbachan Singh to take strong notice of controversial movie Nanak Shah Fakir, which depicts the life of first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Ji. Depicting life or character of Sikh Gurus in films etc. is prohibited under Sikh tradition.

United Khalsa Dal’s General Secretary Loveshinder Singh Dallewal urged Akal Takht Jathedar to ensure that no film-maker is allowed to make mockery of established Sikh traditions. In a written statement sent to the Sikh Siyasat News (SSN), Dallewal said that unexpected commercial success of cartoon/ animation movie Chaar Sahibzaade has lured other film-makers to make movies on Sikh Gurus.

“Upcoming moive Nanak Shah Fakir should be taken very seriously so that prohibition pious Sikh traditions could be upheld. This trend (depicting Sikh Gurus and their families in video/ films etc.) must be stopped”, he added.
