Ludhiana (March 09, 2011): A high level delegation of American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (AGPC) met US State Department officials and discussed with them the human rights issue of killing of Sikhs at Village Hondh Chillar in Rewari District of Haryana in November 1984. Other issues relating to minorities living in South Asia were also discussed in the meeting held on Tuesday evening.
The three-member delegation, comprising of AGPC Coordinator Dr.Pritpal Singh, senior Vice- President Avtar Singh Pannu and Executive Member Narinder Singh met Adrian Pollman of South Asia Desk of US state Department and apprised officials about the heinous crime.
The delegation was also joined by Joena Moralasis, Jude Berdsdell and Safia Ahmad, all from International Religious Freedom (US state Department). They were told that the killing of the Sikhs during the anti-Sikh riots was an inhuman act of violence against minority community. The delegation wanted legal action to be taken against the perpetrators of the violence.
