Shaheed Dilawar Singh’s martyrdom day marked at Frankfurt

Frankfurt, Germany: The Sikh Sangat of Germany marked martyrdom day of Shaheed Dilawar Singh at Gurdwara Sikh Centre Frankfurt and remembered the sacrifice of Shaheed Dilawar Singh. Bhog of Sri Akand Paath Sahib were held in the memory of Shaheed Dilawar Singh and Kirtani Jatha of Bhai Amrik Singh Kathiali recited Gurbani kirtan.

Sikh personalities, including leaders of Sikh Federation Germany and representatives of the Gurdwara management committee, paid tributes to Shaheed Dilawar Singh and recalled that his act of sacrifice his own life had was a manifestation of existential concerns of the Sikh nation. Sikh Federation Germany’s senior vice president Gurdial Singh Laali said that Shaheed Dilawar Singh is a great martyr of the Sikh nation who sacrificed his life to end the cycle of state terror in Punjab.

It may be recalled here that Shaheed Dilawar Singh had laid his life to assassinate Punjab CM Beant Singh who had unleashed region of terror against civilian Sikh population of Punjab. CM Beant Singh was killed in a blast on August 31st, 1995 at Chandigarh based Punjab secretariat.

Shaheed Dilawar Singh’s shaheedi day was also marked at Akal Takhat Sahib in Amritar (Punjab) on August 31st. Akal Takhat Jathedar and representatives of various Sikh organisations had attended this samagam. (read related report).
