Ludhiana: Cracks have begun to appear within the party faction when the Ludhiana unit of the Aam Adami Party (AAP) split into two following the party’s alliance with the Bains brothers. The rift came into fore as tension gripped the party’s Ludhiana office in Sarabha Nagar after two factions confronted each other over possession of the office.

According to Indian Express Ludhiana zone coordinator, C.M Lakhanpal, who resigned from the party after the alliance, alleged that Ludhiana west coordinator Ahbaab Grewal and his supporters tried to take possession of the office premises forcefully and even ‘threatened’ them.

Lakhanpal further said that by inducting Bains brothers who were formerly with Badal Dal, AAP has thrown its own principles and the Constitution up in the air.

“Grewal along with Ludhiana observer Darshan Shankar barged the office on Monday and asked for the keys. I had taken this office on rent for election related work but now when I have resigned, I removed AAP flags as well. Party has nothing to do with it as I pay the rent myself”, IE quotes Lakhanpal.

Whist Lakhanpal alleged that  “Subhash Chander, the office caretaker, informed me over the phone that Grewal and his supporters barged in and tried to take possession of the office forcefully. Repudiating the allegations on him, Grewal, who is also the general secretary of party’s farmers’ wing said, “I did not even go there. Instead counter alleged that Lakhanpal is lying,we have nothing to do with office premise. He is making baseless allegations.”

Agreeing to Grewal, Ludhiana observer Darshan Shankar also claimed the same. “We are trying to meet Lakhanpal for quite a few days but he is not meeting us or handing over the documents. We never went to take possession of the office,” he said.
