Delhi High Court Revokes Om Prakash Chautala’s Parole

NewDelhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday cancelled parole and furlough granted to former Haryana Chief Minister and INLD chief Om Prakash Chautala, who is serving a 10-year jail sentence in the 2000 JBT teachers’ recruitment case.

The bench of Justice Vipin Sanghi cancelled the parole granted to Om Prakash Chautala, 82, observing that he was misusing it to attend public meetings.

The court order came preceding the certain media reports and pictures that where taken notice of by the court which was clearly indicating that Om Prakash  Chautala was “hale and hearty and attending public meetings from time to time”.

He was granted parole on February 6.

However, the advocate of Om Prakash Chautala while stating his version before the court said that people gathered to meet him while he was on the way to his village.

A special Central Bureau of Investigation court here on January 22, 2013 had sentenced Om prakash & Ajay Chautala father son duo and eight others to 10 years in jail after finding them guilty of illegally recruiting 3,206 junior basic trained teachers in 2000.

Furthermore the high court had upheld the punishment awarded by the trial court, while the Supreme Court of India on August 3 dismissed the plea of Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Chautala, upholding their conviction and sentencing in the scam.
