Notably, Gurmukh Singh had not participated in last meeting of SGPC appointed jathedars at Amritsar in which Jathedars had announced Tankhah to politicians who had sought support of Dera Sauda Sirsa. In recent TV interviews Giani Gurmukh Singh had accused Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leaders, including DSGMC General secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa and SAD (B) chief Sukhbir Badal for undermining the status and functioning of Sikh institutions like the Takht Sahibs. He had alleged that he had no role in September 2015 pardon to Dera Sauda Sirsa and it was done under pressure from SAD (Badal). Notably, the pardon was later withdrawn.
The SGPC executive today announced to transfer Giani Gurmukh Singh to Gurdwara Dhamtan Singh in Haryana. He was holding additional charge of acting Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib that was withdrawn today.
