Reported Facebook Post on Saraj Sandhu’s Wall Brings Another Blow to Amarinder Singh’s Rhetoric about killing of Hindu Leader in Amritsar

November 13, 2017 | By

Chandigarh: As per reports in media, a status update on Facebook wall of alleged gangster Saraj Sandhu had mention of October 30 killing of a local activist of a Hindu outfit in Amritsar. News reports say that Saraj Sandhu, who is being chased by the state police, not only admitted to killing Hindu Sangharsh Sena leader Vipan Sharma but also said that the deceased was killed for revenge.

A report in The Tribune notes: “Sandhu was clearly seen pumping seven bullets into Sharma in a CCTV footage”.

Whereas various media outlets have termed the post as an matter of embarrassment for the police but a reading of the post reveals the post snubs Punjab CM Capt. Amarinder Singh’s rhetoric about the killing. Punjab CM had linked the killing to Sikh diaspora activism. But the Facebook post on Saraj Sandhu’s wall says it was a revenge killing which should not be linked to any other religion.

… Te ess nu kise hor #Dharam ja hor nal na joddya jave ehh sadi apsi ranjsh c ….” reads the Facebook post, which seems to be removed from the social networking site now.

Earlier senior police officials had also stated that the killing of Vipin Sharma was an act of revenge by alleged gangsters, and has got nothing to do with pro-freedom Sikh activities as was earlier claimed by Amarinder Singh and Ravneet Bittu both senior Congress leaders.

“This Facebook post is no longer available. It may have been removed or the privacy settings of the post may have changed”, reads a message on Hindustan Times website where the Facebook post was reportedly embedded along with the news. Similar message shows up on ZEE news website.

However, a screenshot of the post, as posted on LivingIndiaNews.co.in is still available.

“We are verifying whether the gangster has uploaded the post or someone else has done it for him. He must be in touch with some people,” a report on The Tribune’s online edition quotes undisclosed police source.

A report on online edition of Hindustan Times notes that last week, Punjab Police arrested Sukhraj Kaur, Sandhu’s mother, from her home in Sultanwind near Amritsar for harbouring her son and others.
