Amritsar: Dal Khalsa spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh condoles the demise of leading Pakistan’s Human rights icon Asma Jahangir at Lahore today. She was 66. She suffered a cardiac arrest and was admitted in private hospital at Lahore where she breathed her last. Her sister Hina Jilani has rightly said it is a loss for everyone as she took up cases of the voiceless.
‘I remember meeting her along with party colleagues H S Dhami and Dr Manjinder Singh at Circut House Amritsar on 3rd March 2008 to present memorandum to her on Sikh issues. She was on official visit to India and Punjab in the capacity the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief of the United Nations Human Rights Council’, said Kanwarpal Singh, while expressing grief over her death.
‘She was courageous and dedicated rights and social activist and above all the voice of the voiceless’, said he.
