Amritsar: Observing the 34th anniversary of the army attack on Darbar Sahib in June 84, the Dal Khalsa has resolved to undertake a Genocide Remembrance March on June 5 and complete shutdown in the city of Amritsar on June 6.
While reiterating their demand for impartial international investigation into the killings of thousands of pilgrims, SGPC employees and volunteers of Dharam Yudh Morcha, the party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said that the pain of the deadly attack is fresh and the wounds of the attack still simmer.
After attending the meeting of party members convened to chalk out protest programmes to observe Ghallughara week, he said forgetting assault on Sikh faith was not possible. He said that the great nations never forget the sacrifices of martyrs and they do everything to preserve their history for the future generations.
Giving a call for the Amritsar bandh on 34 years of codenamed “operation Blue Star”, Dal Khalsa leader said the call was meant to protest against the army assault, loot of invaluable manuscripts and arte facts from Sikh National Library and to pay rich tributes to martyrs. He said the bandh would be peaceful and urged all sections of people to cooperate with their call.
He said the march would start from Gurdwara Ranjit Avenue in the evening and culminate at Akal Takhat where Ardas would be performed in memory of martyrs.
Concerned about the fratricidal warfare being fanned by various Sikh groups and individuals on the issue of Maryada, Dal Khalsa leader appealed to the Sikh Diaspora to pray and resolve all differences and rededicate ourselves to the cause of June 1984 martyrs for which they laid down their lives.
Others who were present in the meet include Harpal Singh Cheema, Satnam Singh, Baldev Singh Sirsa, Jasvir Singh, Ranbir Singh, Paramjit Singh Tanda, and Amrik Singh Isru beside SYP head Paramjit Singh Mand.
