Chandigarh: To go into the entire gamut of issues involved in the transmission of Gurbani from Sri Harmandar Sahib, Amritsar a 6-member fact-finding committee, consisting of veteran and practising Sikh journalists was formed today at a meeting of Sikh Sangat at the Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Chandigarh.
In the presence of Sikh activists and members of the Sangat, resolutions were passed denouncing the PTC averement that Gurbani transmitted from Harmandar Sahib is their intellectual property. After due deliberations on the issue of Gurbani transmission, the key resolution unanimously passed at the meet, reads that “Gurbani is the Word of Akal Purakh. Guru Sahibs have clearly said in Guru Granth Sahib that Gurbani is a revelation of Akal Purakh. The PTC channel’s declaration that it has an intellectual property right over Gurbani tantamounts to desecration and blasphemy.”
It was further resolved that the fact-finding team will go into the whole issue of Gurbani transmission over the last two decades and prepare a comprehensive report of the violation of Gurmat principles, legal norms as well as financial dealings and alleged bunglings in the procurement and dissemination of rights for transmission.
Members present at the meeting strongly condemned the commercialisation of Gurbani.
The 6-member Fact-finding team includes web portal editors Jagmohan Singh and Parmjeet Singh, veteran journalists Jaspal Singh Sidhu and Chanchal Manohar Singh, author Ajaypal Singh and TV anchor Bibi Harsharan Kaur.
