Family to have final word on upcoming Diljit Dosanjh Movie, says Khalra’s Wife

Chandigarh: Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra has issued a statement regarding an upcoming Movie based on the life-story of Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra. Notably, there were reports in the media that Diljit Dosanjh is playing the role of human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra in a movie which is said to be ‘bio-pic’ of later.

In her statement, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra said: “[i]n the last 2 years multiple people had approached us for making a movie on life and work on Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra but most groups wanted to do crowd funding to produce the movie which we do not want to be part of. So the Khalra family have to give permissions to Mr. Honey Trehan and team in which Daljeet Dosanjh is playing the role”.

“The family’s association to this project is to review the script and provide inputs. We will also review the final movie once complete for the final go/no-go”, she said.

Bibi Khalra clarified that ‘Khalra Mission Organization, as an organization, is not involved in this project’.

“We are aware of concerns within the community that Bollywood has in the past misrepresented Sikh Sangarsh and we also do share the same concerns. We will try our best to provide feedback to the film production team and keep the narrative on the right track”, she added.
