Sikh Jatha begins Fateh Yatra for Haridwar; Police directed identify and stop such persons posing threat to communal harmony, says SSP

Amritsar/Jalandhar, Punjab (November 28, 2012): As per reports available with Sikh Siyasat News (SSN) Sikh devotees under the leadership of All India Sikh Conference (Babbar) president Bhai Gurcharan Singh Babbar and patron of Panthic Sewa Lehar Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal started “Fateh Yatra” for Haridwar on November 27, 2012 to observe the 544th Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Sahib near Har Ki Pauri — where there was a historic Gurudwara Sahib, about 450-year-old, named Gurdwara Gian Godhri Sahib. It is notable that Gurudwara Gian Godri Sahib was demolished in the November 1984 during Sikh Genocide 1984.

It is notable that there were reprots that the Uttarakhand Police had banned the entry of Sikhs in Haridwar to prevent them from reaching the spot where the Gurdwara existed.

According to recent media reports Haridwar police chief Arun Mohan Joshi, has claimed that the entry of Sikhs is not banned in Haridwar, but the police has been direct to ‘identify and stop such persons who could pose a threat to communal harmony’.

Meanwhile Bhai Gurcharan Singh Babbar is reported to have sent a memorandum to to the President and Prime Minister of India, drawing their attention on the ban imposed on entry of Sikhs to Haridwar. Babbar has sought the intervention of President and PM of India in this matter.
