Arrested persons include a British Sikh citizen Jaswant Singh Azad who was arrested by the police in September 2012 under UAPA and Arms Act by the Jalandhar police. He was granted bail by Punjab and Haryana High Court in October 2013, and he was released from Kapurthala Jail on November 1 as per court orders.

Certain media sections quoted unnamed sources that Jaswant Singh, Kashmir Singh and Balwant Singh, who were out on bail from Kapurthala Jail, were arrested on November 17, 2013 while Harpreet Singh Hera was brought by the police today on production warrant from Ludhiana jail. All four persons are in police remand till November 23, 2013.

As per information an FIR has been lodged against them at the Bhogpur police station.

“Sources said the four were being interrogated to get more details about their designs and to make more alleged recoveries of weapons. Senior Superintendent of Police (Rural) Jaspreet Singh Sidhu said a police team was investigating the matter and developing leads to a big crime” reports the The Tribune (TT).

“We will disclose the details about the entire operation to the media soon,” SSP Jaspreet Singh Sidhu reportedly added.

It is notable that Jaswant Singh Azad’s family has maintained that he was being framed by the Punjab police in false cases. His wife had sought help of British High Commission at the time of arrest of Jaswant Singh in September 2012.
