Talwandi Sabo: After the Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) led Punjab government prevented them from holding November 10 gathering at Talwandi Sabo, the acting jathedars have announced to the gathering at the same place at Bhagi Vandar village near Talwandi Sabo on December 8. As per media reports, the acting jathedars and supporting parties – Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar (Mann) and United Akali Dal (UAD) – have carefully selected the date apparently to hoodwink the government as the ruling SAD (Badal) would be busy in its state-level Moga rally the same day.
Bhai Baljit Singh Daduwa said: “We feel that if the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has the right to hold his rallies across the state, why the government is creating obstacles in our way. We won’t apply for the permission and leave the issue to the Sikh organisations associated with the event.”
Notably, the organizers of the event were denied permissions to hold the gathering on Nov. 1o by local administration.
SAD (Amritsar) chief Simranjit Singh Maan said they would apply for permission even as hearing on their plea on the matter would come up in the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday. “The government is denying us our right to free speech,” The Tribune quotes Simranjit Singh Mann saying.
