Moga/Amritsar, Punjab (June 02, 2014): In an appeal made on the name of Sikh Panth from Akal Takhat, Jathedar of the Takhat Giyani Gurbachan Singh Khalsa has urged Sikh Panth not to make political allegations on June 6 when the Sikh Panth will be observing 30th anniversary of attack on Akal Takhat at Amritsar.

In a written message released from the Takhat, he said, “The Sikh Panth should observe the day under Sikh discipline in a peaceful manner. The day will be dedicated to the martyrs of June 1984, who were killed during attack by Indian Army”.

“It is a duty of all the Sikhs that they should recite Gurbani. After the Ardas at Akal Takhat on June 6, all Sikhs should maintain the peace”, he added.

His message gains significance as it has followed a day after a Sikh nationalist body Dal Khalsa called for Amritsar Bandh (shut-down) on June 6.

Representatives of various Sikh bodies would gather at Akal Takhat on June 6 to pay obeisance to the martyrs of June 1984 on 30th anniversary of Indian Army’s attack on Darbar Sahib complex.

The army attack is regarded as beginning of the 3rd Ghallughara (holocaust) of the Sikh history.
