Bakersfield: “American Sikh Council representatives lead by Dr. Manbir Singh succeeded in getting the City Council of Bakersfield to sign a proclamation recognizing and acknowledging the Sikh Genocide in India. Mayor Harvey Hall included the proclamation in the regular meeting of the city council on Dec 9, 2015” reads a statement by American Sikh Council (ASC).
“All the councilmen unanimously approved his proposal and also added that Sikhs are hardworking people and are asset to the city of Bakersfield. The sustained Sikh Genocide campaign against the Sikh population by the Indian regime took place primarily between the years of 1984 – 1998” the release reads further.
ASC maintains that [t]his noble step taken by the City leaders of Bakersfield to honor all those who were brutally murdered for simply following their Faith, must be applauded and for standing up for the truth.
