Amritsar, Punjab (July 31, 2014): Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has sought an unconditional apology from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Bhagwant Mann for distorting a “dohira”: ‘Raj karega khalsa aaki rahe na koi’ from the Sikh ‘ardas’ (prayer).
In a release recently issued by SGPC, it said that Bhagwant Mann had distorted the stanza during a public meeting, which had hurt the religious feelings of Sikhs.

In a statement having political overtone, SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar said that it was ‘most-unfortunate’ for the Punjab that such a non-serious persons is member of country’s Parliament. He said that “what the people of Punjab could expect regarding development after sending such a person to the Indian parliament”.
Avtar Singh Makkar, in written statement issued by the SGPC said that the information about Bhagwant Mann’s mis-conduct had come to his notice through social-media and newspaper sources.
